We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming 2024 Sahara Marathon solidarity race in aid of Saharawi refugees in the Algerian Sahara!!!

After a 3-year hiatus, we are proud to announce the relaunching of our annual fundraiser sporting event in the Saharawi refugee camps in South-West Algeria, open to a limited number of participants. Runners who join the race at the camps will help to raise £20k in support of the charity's pioneering early educational Desert Voicebox project. Any participant who raises £3000 or more will have all their expenses paid for. During your week-long stay in the camps from February 24 to March 2, you will be hosted by a Saharawi refugee family and will have a truly bespoke experience during your stay through Sandblast. Make sure you register by the January 15 deadline to run either the 5km, 10km, half-marathon, or full-marathon.

By fundraising for Sandblast you are contributing to our Desert Voicebox Project, the pioneering early educational after-school project that trains local Saharawi refugee women to provide English language and music education to over 60 children aged 6-12. Our target of £20,000 will enable us to respond to local demand to expand our programme to benefit more children and train more teachers. The money raised will go into building a new equipped space for teaching and organising a 2-week pedagogical training programme in Algiers for four of teachers in Summer 2024.

If travelling to the Sahara is not possible but you would like to show your solidarity and help us raise funds, we would encourage you to join the race by running from home on the same day! Run with a group of friends and show support, the Saharawi refugee community will greatly appreciate that you are supporting from afar.
